Wednesday marked the end of one chapter of our lives, and the beginning of a new chapter. On Wednesday we turned in our badges, cleaned out Matt’s desk, and said farewell to our time at FamilyLife. Our department threw a lovely goodbye reception for us. Here are a few photos from the reception.
Our manager, Tim, decided what would be on the cake. Needless to say, I felt very special.
Here is Matt with Tim. We could not have had a better manager than Tim.
John, on the left, was instrumental in getting us to FamilyLife in the first place.Micah, on the right, is Matt’s replacement.
He will do a great job, and will fit in great with the team.
Teri Elaine is a special friend. I enjoyed getting to work with her on my days in the office.
David and Tiffany arrived at FamilyLife in October, and we quickly became fast friends. We will really miss them and their kiddos.
There was a great turnout at the reception. Many of our co-workers came to say their goodbyes, and to ask us about what we’ll be doing next. Through it all, there was a sense of unreality. It seems like just yesterday our team was welcoming us for the first time with balloons and streamers at our desk. And just like that, 4 years have flown by, and God is moving us on.
It took a few minutes for the tears to hit me after I walked out of the building for the last time. It wasn’t until I pulled out of the parking lot and could no longer see FamilyLife in my rear view mirror that the tears came. I cried all the way to Whitney’s school–tears of sadness at leaving, tears of remembering everything God has done in our time at FamilyLife, tears of apprehension at what lies ahead, and tears of joy and the work that awaits us in Orlando.
So what is next for the Bertholic family? Our home office is set up. We are working full-time on raising support. In order for us to move to Orlando and begin our work with Bright Media, we need to identify $2000 of monthly support. Our house also needs to sell. So now we are in the wait cycle. Would you pray for us in these things?
Also, a big thank you to our new managers, Brad and Kathy Bright, for the lovely fruit basket you sent to welcome us to the team!
